Do natural seed jewelry lose their color?
This is a question I often get asked, and the answer is quite simple.
No, generally, natural seed jewelry does not lose its color.
But to be more precise, we need to distinguish between different cases.
1. Naturally Colored Seeds
When it comes to a seed with its original color, directly from the plant, the answer is clear:
👉 it does not lose its color under normal conditions of use.
The shade is part of the material itself. It is not added to the surface like fragile paint, which allows it to remain stable over time.
2. Dyed Seeds
There are also seeds that have been dyed.
In some cases, the color may come from natural pigments (plants, barks, vegetable elements). In other cases, there may be more classic dyes depending on the processes used.
In all cases, once the seed is well-processed (and that's where we can have problems... but that will be another topic) and stabilized, the color is designed to last over time.
👉 Even dyed versions remain stable (when well-processed) as long as they are worn with normal use.
3. In Extreme Conditions
Yes, in extreme conditions, the color can change.
For example:
* prolonged and repeated exposure to the sun all day;
* frequent or prolonged immersion in water;
* repeated and significant contact with perfumes or chemicals directly on the jewelry.
These are situations that are completely outside of normal use... but frankly, no one buys jewelry to do these kinds of things.
4. Maintenance and Common Sense Usage
As with pearls, this type of jewelry simply requires a minimum of attention, not because it is fragile, but because all jewelry deserves to be treated properly.
